Welcome
Hyde Park has a long tradition of welcoming guests to our community. We have been at the forefront of academic, political, and cultural history dating back to the Chicago World's Fair in 1893.

Our list of distinguished Hyde Parkers includes five Nobel Prize laureates, first ladies Mary Todd Lincoln and Michelle Obama, lawyer Clarence Darrow, boxer and activist Mohammad Ali, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, and past United States President Barack Obama.

We are proud of our diverse and eclectic mix of over 100 eateries, shops, cultural attractions, and historic architecture, including the Museum of Science and Industry, the Frank Lloyd Wright Robie House, the DuSable Museum, and the University of Chicago campus. We hope you enjoy your time in our neighborhood and experience why Hyde Park, the "jewel on the lake," is one of Chicago’s most popular tourist neighborhoods.

The pandemic pushed to our limits, but as true Chicagoans, we found ways to survive and even thrive. Since then, many new businesses have opened in all parts of Hyde Park. We focus on the future, helping our current business community, and finding new businesses that will make up a vibrant neighborhood that we are all be proud to call home.

Sincerely,
